STOCKHOLM 10691, Sweden

Stockholm University (SU), is one of the largest universities in Sweden. Stockholm University is one of the 200 highest-ranked universities in the world and one of the top 100 universities in Europe according to several well-established university ranking tables. Stockholm University protects the quality, integrity and independence of research, and this requires research to be carried out in accordance with good research practice.

The Department of Ecology, Environment and Plant Sciences (DEEP) at SU is a world-leading institution investigating the relationship between plant biomass. The Department of Organic Chemistry (OC) comprises 8 professors and 5 emeritus professors, of which 4 belong to the Royal Academy of Sciences, Sweden. The focus of the department is catalysis in organic synthesis. The Department of Materials and Environmental Chemistry (MMK) at SU is internationally leading in the study of porous, hybrid and nanostructured materials. MMK has a sophisticated scientific infrastructure which offers a combination for material synthesis and physical characterization.

SU is co-ordinating the Bio-LUSH project lead by Prof. Aji Mathew. SU will lead WP1 and WP2. The research activities will focus on sourcing, and use of native and biologically manipulated resources from underexplored feedstock in fibre generation, biomass refining and characterisation as well as developing new materials form biomass ( e.g. fibers, packaging , 3D printed parts for automotive sector).

"We should gain more knowledge and education for a sustainable world, so we can advance the sustainability of biobased materials."
